A 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded in 2008 to provide scholarships, give assistance to cancer patients, and promote cancer awareness and research.
Jason Wilhelm was a professional drummer pursuing a degree in music business when, in May 2003 at the age of 20, he was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer. The disease outlasted five years of aggressive treatments and surgeries that gradually weakened his body beyond the ability to recover.
Despite losing his college education, the strength to drum, his health, and ultimately his life to cancer in May 2008, Jason accepted the hard truths of his life without allowing them to harden his heart.
The Jason Christopher Wilhelm Scholarship Fund was established in honor of his amazing courage and character.

Festivus get-together in Camden raises funds and holiday spirits
A holiday celebration held at the Good Life Tavern in Camden on December 23 raised $475 for the Scholarship Fund. The Festivus was first held several years ago by a group of friends that included Jason Wilhelm. The various incarnations of Festivus have all centered around reuniting hometown friends for a night of stories, drinks, and dancing.
We would like to thank Mike Rapke for planning and organizing this year's event, as well as his personal donation of funds to pay for a substantial portion of expenses. We also thank all those in attendance for their generosity, and hope the Festivus will become an annual event.

2011 In Review
The Jason Christopher Wilhelm Scholarship Fund concludes 2011 with another tremendously successful year of fundraising and recipient gifts. In addition to our three $500 scholarship award winners, eight recipients recieved a total of $2,650 in much-needed financial assistance.
May is the busiest month for the Fund, especially so this year with the launch of jaycwsfund.org in early May to coincide with the promotion of the Annual Picnic and Golf Tournament held on May 28 and 29. The website has exceeded our expectations as a means to promote the mission of the Fund. This year's Picnic and Golf Tournament continued a trend of increased participation.
On June 9, our scholarships were awarded to Jake Clark, Jennifer Kluskie, and Chandler Mellon, 2011 graduates of Camden High School of Camden, New York. We wish them continued success in their academic careers and beyond.
December ended the year as a productive month with the re-introduction of the Festivus, and the offering of JayCW ornaments. We wish a joyous holiday season and a happy, healthy 2012 to all.
Thank you! |
