Apparently, God Needed
A Drummer
by Tammy Fleming
What started out being a mother’s memories of the heart breaking journey through the diagnosis, treatment, and finally the loss of her first born son, has become an uplifting tribute to the man he became in the process.
Through memories from his friends and family, the inspirational lessons he left behind will be remembered and passed on, hopefully, for generations.
The long asked question of what lasting impact can one man’s life have on those around him is answered with a remarkable clarity time and time again by everyone who knew and loved him. Jason Wilhelm taught people to stay strong in the face of adversity, live life to the fullest every day, and openly give love and support to the people that mean the most to you. Because of his unique ability to connect with people of all different backgrounds, interests, ages, and concerns, he was able to make a difference in each person’s life that he or she would not have learned from anyone else.

When Apparently, God Needed A Drummer was published in Spring 2009, the first copies were purchased by family and friends of the subject of the book, Jason Wilhelm. As most were all too familiar with the actual events, the book was purchased more as a keepsake or memento. Over the next several months, the author, Tammy Fleming, began receiving requests for her book from people who had never known Jason. All shared the same experience: They had been given a copy to read, and were moved by Tammy's weave of the hard facts of a tragic loss with the warm recollections of loved ones to prove one person's remarkable character, personality, and love remain in the hearts of those he knew. Readers found the story's common themes applied to their own lives and relationships, and the book evolved from a keepsake to a must-read for anyone touched by cancer or coping with the unexpected loss of a loved one. With promotion consisting of word-of-mouth recommendations for the next year, nearly 500 copies of Apparently, God Needed A Drummer were sold.
jaycwsfund.org is proud to exclusively offer Apparently, God Needed A Drummer for purchase in soft cover ($15.00) or hard cover ($25.00).
